The Business Development Center was established to support economic development and encourage local business growth within the Asbury Park community. We are dedicated to entrepreneurs looking to grow their current businesses or start new ones. We offer a full spectrum of business support services and access to low-cost office space in our business incubator facility.

Our Founder

 

Interfaith Neighbors, Inc.

Interfaith Neighbors, Inc. is a non-profit, community benefit corporation that founded and manages the Business Development Center located in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The agency has long been focused on community development, neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing and nutrition programs.

The Mary Owen Borden Foundation

The Mary Owen Borden Foundation was founded by Bertram H. Borden in June of 1934 to honor his recently departed wife. This Foundation provided start-up funding for, and continues to support the work of, the Interfaith Neighbors Business Development Center. The primary focus of the Foundation’s current philanthropic giving is to address the needs of disadvantaged youth and their families in Monmouth and Mercer Counties.

The Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program

The Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program (NRTC) offers corporations with a NJ business tax obligation a 100 percent tax credit for funds provided to nonprofit entities carrying out comprehensive revitalization plans approved by the NJ Department of Community Affairs. Corporations that have invested in Interfaith Neighbors’ DCA-approved Asbury Park West Side Neighborhood Revitalization Plan are:

Roger Boyce

Roger Boyce is the Director and Founder of the Business Development Center. His experience as a high-tech serial entrepreneur guides entrepreneurs to launch and grow their businesses. Additionally, he has established several social enterprises where he uses entrepreneurial principles to solve social problems. Roger also teaches at Stevens Institute of Technology. Gillian Edgar

Gillian is the Business Development Center Associate. She is the facilities manager for the Springwood Center including the business incubator space.  Gillian supports the Business Development Center's client companies, business mentoring activities, and joint programming and events for the Kula Café and Kula Urban Farm.
