Rental & Mortgage Assistance

Interfaith Neighbors’ Rental & Mortgage Assistance program was the organization’s founding program and has been in operation for 30+ years.

Our Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program is designed to help prevent homelessness and provide financial stability to those living in Monmouth County. After a qualifying interview, those accepted into the Program may be able to receive assistance with rent arrears, mortgage payments or security deposits.

The Program is designed to assist families or individuals who are experiencing a temporary crisis that results in unanticipated expenses or loss of income. We screen hundreds of potential clients each year, giving referrals to those who do not meet our eligibility criteria.

We help over 300 families every year and run an ‘Adopt-A-Family’ Program each holiday season, collecting and distributing donations of toys and gifts to many of these families.  Please contact us if you are interested in sponsoring one of our families.

Acceptance into the Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program is determined on completion of an intake assessment and application. A determination is typically made within seven to ten days.
