$14,500,000 budgeted from Meeting the Moment Campaign
The Marmora Family Community & Education Center will be a one-of-a-kind center, and we are proud to name it in honor of our unique and inspirational founder, Joe Marmora.
The Marmora Center will span approximately 30,000 square feet, welcoming all to the heart of Asbury Park’s West Side. Working together in this thoughtfully designed, environmentally friendly space, we will empower people to overcome challenges, explore solutions, and assist the community and all who live here to realize their full potential.
Building Uses:
- Eight Affordable Housing Rental Units
- Interfaith Neighbors Headquarters
- Interfaith Neighbors Rental & Mortgage Assistance Program
- The Asbury Park Museum
- Other Community Services
The project has evolved since the start of the Meeting the Moment Campaign in 2021. Initially, the Marmora Center was also to be the home of Interfaith Neighbors’ Launch Center. However, in 2022, the space adjacent to Interfaith Neighbors’ Business Development Center, located in the Springwood Center (directly across the street from the location of Marmora Center) became available. As the Launch Center program was growing quickly, Interfaith Neighbors decided to take possession of the additional space and combine and renovate the two storefronts to house the growing program. The expanded Launch Center opened in June 2023.
The original plans for the Marmora Center also included plans for the addition of an Early Childhood Learning Center for children ages three to five years old. In September 2023, the Dr. Lorenzo Harris, Jr. Early Childhood Learning Center for children aged from birth to three years old opened its doors. Since that time, due to changes in State of New Jersey funding for parent subsidies for early childhood education and greater understanding of the demand, Interfaith Neighbors has determined the better path forward is to expand the existing facility to allow it to accommodate children aged three to five.
Project Status
Interfaith Neighbors is currently working with the City of Asbury Park Planning Board to achieve final approvals for the project and secure construction permits. It is expected that construction on the project will begin in spring 2025 with project completion by year end 2026.
