Please join us for a special evening at the Kula Urban Farm with featured guest chef Omer Basatemur.
Omer has provided an Asian, Thai, Mexican, and American inspired vegan menu at Kaya’s Kitchen in Belmar for 15 years.
Among the eatery’s most popular dishes are vegan spinoffs of common dishes. For example, their take on buffalo wings is made with tofu or tempeh (cooked and fermented soybeans). Then there are the spare ribs made with seitan (wheat-meat), homemade hummus, the portobello sandwich, and the vegetable jambalaya over rice.
Basatemur, a cultivator of tomatoes, herbs, zucchini, squash and peppers, ensures that 90 percent of vegetables served at Kaya’s Kitchen are organically grown.
In business, Basatemur operates under one edict – “Do good and pay the bills.” He says, “You get back what you put in (and) you have to choose morals over profits sometimes.”
Comfortable shoes are suggested —no heels—, the farm has mulch and gravel walkways.
This event is BYOB so don’t forget to bring your favorite beer/wine.
