All about Fruits and Vegetables

Ever wonder how to get kids to eat their fruits and vegetables? Or where the veggies and fruits come from in our local areas?

We'll have some tips on how to do this! We will all gather and get creative so even your most pickiest eater will love it!!! Ms. Michele, a green team leader from the George L Catrambone School in Long Branch, will bring some cool garden choices of fruits and veggies for children to sample, taste and create with!

Did you know:
The vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables provide the following benefits: Promote good health and protect against disease, both now and in the future. To ensure the child's healthy growth and development. Strengthen a child's immune system and help fight illnesses. Include at least one leafy green or yellow vegetable for vitamin A such as spinach, broccoli, winter squash, greens, or carrots each day. Include at least one vitamin C–rich fruit or vegetable, such as oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, melon, tomato, and broccoli each day.

 

Kula for Kids is a great way for your little ones to explore a garden and to learn about food, nature and much more. 
It is a smart opportunity to get engaged in STEM education in an inspiring setting.
We’ll provide different exciting topics every month for the kids to learn about. 
We'll provide a snack and a drink. Please have your child wear proper footwear, crocs or sandals aren't very practical at the farm. You can drop off / pick up your child, or -if you prefer- stay to help out with class activities. You will be asked to sign in and leave an emergency contact number.
Masks are recommended but not required since we'll be mostly outside or in the well ventilated greenhouse. Please understand the risk inherent in your visit to the Farm and help prevent spread by keeping distance and washing or disinfecting you hands upon arrival.
It is a free class, donations are always welcome to support our future programs.
