Main topic: Container Gardening Basics - Age: 8-17
This class is a beginner gardening class that will help you to start growing a small garden anywhere using potted plants. This class goes over the basics, how to set up small container gardens, and how to determine the right plants for you to grow in whatever space you have right at your own home.
Natalie Hayes is a science teacher at Asbury Park High School. She is currently seeking a master’s degree in plant Biology at Rutgers University and has worked with the Monmouth Conservation Foundation to bring more environmental education to Asbury Park. Natalie is a gardener herself, and takes a strong interest in small space growing, herbal plant care, and heirloom gardening.
We'll provide a snack and drink, although we would appreciate it if you could provide a reusable water bottle to reduce waste.
Please wear proper/closed footwear (crocs/sandals aren't very practical at the farm).
As a parent you can drop off / pick up your child, or -if you prefer- stay to help out with class activities.
Everyone is asked to leave an emergency contact number and sign a health screening & release form.
Even though we'll mostly be outside we would appreciate it if you could wear a mask if you are not fully vaccinated yet.
Please let me know if you have any further questions!
