Barrio Costero's and Reyla's Executive Head Chef Antony Bustamante will launch this season's Celebrity Chef series in support of Interfaith Neighbors' Kula Cafe and Kula Urban Farm!

Please join us for a special evening at the Kula Urban Farm in Asbury Park with featured guest chef, Antony Bustamante who will be joined by renowned Mixologist Jamie Dodge. Come out and enjoy great company and a fabulous meal in support of the work of Interfaith Neighbors, Inc.

The Kula Urban Farm is a bustling, state-of-the-art urban farm that gives Asbury Park area residents the opportunity to learn how to plant, nurture and grow food, which is then be available to the public for purchase, as well as used in meals at Kula Cafe.

The Kula Cafe provides paid job training to young adults eager to work in the hospitality industry. Both operations are part of Interfaith Neighbors, Inc., serving Asbury Park and the greater Monmouth County community for over 30 years.

Enjoy a true farm to table experience at this special evening, dining in the midst of the Kula Urban Farm, served by the team from the Kula Cafe.

Our guest chef for this special evening at the farm is Antony Bustamante, Executive Chef of Barrio Costero and Reyla.

Chef Antony Bustamante is a former naval cook who manages the two fine dining eateries in Asbury Park. To balance the fresh and healthy Spanish coastal fare of Barrio Costero with the Middle Eastern cuisine at Reyla, Bustamante extensively researches the regions in order to provide those rare nuances found in his approachable cuisine with unique flavor.

“I actually read a lot of books about other countries’ history and geography in order to get an understanding of where the food comes from,” he said.

His popular ‘four bites,’ menu born from his research, encourages patrons to sample small portion dishes aimed at activating all the senses while providing a culinary education.

“The theory is that after four or five bites of a dish, it gets repetitive,” Bustamante said. “But after the first four bites, you should be able to understand the flavors.”

The culinary event will include a signature cocktail by Jamie Dodge, part owner of the sister venues, known for his work at Circa in High Bridge, as well as at Elements and Mistral in Princeton.

Dodge is a lifelong forager who reinvents traditional classics through ingredients sourced from local farms and purveyors, as well as from some of the most exotic and remote areas on the planet. His infusions, house-made tonics, syrups, and bitters feature these artisan ingredients.
