Event Details:
Sneaky Snakes!
Free, 3:00 - 6:00pm, a class by Teen Arts New Jersey
Description:
Come help make a dent in Lisa's enormous beer bottlecap collection and make a snake! Participants will select caps, poke holes and string up the caps on wire to make a fun snake to guard your front door or gift to a friend. This is a time honored application for bottlecaps and takes about an hour to complete. Come and be a part of folk art history and the recycled art movement. Event takes place in the Kula Farm greenhouse, a fun place to visit on its own.
About the Instructor: Lisa Bagwell has been building gardens where there was once grass (kill your lawn) or a vacant lot since 2004. She’s worked as a park system naturalist, managed the Long Branch Community gardens and labored with love for Jeff’s Organic Produce/E.R. and Son Farm. She currently manages Kula Farm in Asbury Park, a community driven urban farm. “There’s nothing she loves more than allowing the matrix of naturalized plants the opportunity to coexist with the beds of cultivated vegetables. She also loves building giant brush piles that eventually break down with the help of decomposers and is proud to manage a popular community compost pile. In both her work and art, she takes unwanted things, be it a vacant lot, rotting vegetables or a bottlecap and hopes to build something inspiring.
